Luxor – Aswan (Nile Cruise) and Cairo by Sleeper Train

08 days / 07 Nights

 

Day 01: international flight Home/Luxor

Morning - Arrial at Luxor international airport (this day must be Monday or Saturday)
upon arrival at Luxor, meet and assist by our representative at Luxor airport through
the formalities, then transfer to your Nile Cruise, embarkation before lunch, after
lunch, relax on board the Nile Cruise for a couple of hour then set off on a guided
tour visiting the world's largest open air complex (the Karnak temple) which covers a
span of more than 2000 years of ancient Egypt' history. After visiting the great
temples in Karnak, then by sunset start to visit the most elegant temple, built mainly
by king Amenhotep III (father of the monotheist pharaoh Akhnaten). Know from your
professional Egyptologist tour guide the story of the decisive battle of Kadesh, and the
most famous festival in Egypt "The Opet" celebrated annually few weeks after the
annual Nile flood, Marking the beginning of the new year of the ancient Egyptian
calendar. Stop for a shopping tour in the famous Luxor Market, and then back to Nile
Cruise, Dinner, entertainment and overnight on board.

Day 02: Luxor West Bank and Esna

Breakfast on board, then start with your professional tour guide, a stunning day
touring the west Bank in Luxor visiting:
Valley of the Kings, exploring 3 famous royal tombs.
Temple of Deir EL Bahari of queen Hatschepsut.
The twin massive statues known as The Colossi of Memmnon (of king Amenhotep
III).
Back to Nile Cruise,start sailing southwards towards Edfu via Esna Lock, lunch /
Tea Time on the Sundeck / Dinner / entertainment (Galabiya Party) and overnight on
board while sailing southwards towards Edfu.

Day 03: Edfu and Kom Ombo

Early Morning – Hot drink then start by the traditional mean of transportation in Edfu
(Hantour – Horse Carriage) to visit the most preserved temple in Egypt , built for the
worship of Horus of Behdit (The falcon god Horus of Edfu ) back to Nile Cruise
around 08 A.M , Breakfast on board, while sailing southwards towards Kom Ombo
via Esna lock, upon arrival at the lock, passengers' call to ascend the sundeck to enjoy
the cruise ship crossing the lock through the basin' gates in two different water levels
(must see)… lunch / Tea Time on the Sundeck while sailing, by sunset arrive at Kom
Ombo, join your tour guide to visit the unique temple shared by the two gods (the
crocodile god Sobek and the falcon god Haroaries – Horus the elder). Continue sailing
southwards towards Aswan, dinner / entertainment (oriental show including belly
dancing and tannura Shows) / and overnight on board.

Day 04: Aswan:

Breakfast on board, and day free to follow your own ideas / or suggested optional tour
(Air /or land) to visit the two massive temples (cut into the rock) and both built by the
most famous king in ancient Egypt, Ramsess II.
Lunch on board Nile Cruise.
Afternoon & evening : free at leisure / or suggested tour to visit the Nubian village,
where you experience hours in traditional Nubian house, enjoying their traditional
folkloric dance and songs, take photos of the Nile crocodile they keep it in built up
iron cages at home, then sail back to the city and walk through the streets of the
famous Aswan Market. Dinner / entertainment and overnight on board.

Day 05: Aswan/ overnight sleeper train to Cairo:

Breakfast on board, followed by disembarkation, then start with your tour guide
touring Aswan to visit:
The 20 th century engineering miracle called the Aswan High Dam, then proceed to the
Island of Philae, where you board a traditional Nile Motor boat, to visit the temple of
goddess Isis, originally built on bigah island and existed there for thousands of years
before being submerged by the rising Nile water behind the old Aswan dam, hence it
was decided to save and transfer it to the nearby island of Ijilika where it stands
majestically today. The tour of this day in Aswan will be ended by visiting The
unfinished obelisk and the granit quarries, exploring the techniques of cutting hard
stones in ancient Egypt. Stop for lunch before transferring to Aswan Railway station
to board the overnight sleeper train to travel to Cairo, dinner and overnight on board.

Day 06: Arrival Cairo / Memphis – Saqqara – Giza Pyramids

Breakfast on board, then arrive at Cairo in The early morning, meet and assist at Giza railway
station, then start a magnificent full day tour to visit:
Memphis, the very first capital of ancient Egypt, founded by the legendary king Menes
around 3200 BC, then drive to Sakkara (The most famous necropolis in ancient Egypt –
containing monuments cover a span of 3000 years) to visit:
The step pyramid of king Zoser (the first stone building in the world), the pyramid of king
Unas (the first pyramid adorned from the inside with the so-called pyramid's texts) and the
Mastaba-Tomb of princess Idut.
Stop for lunch in a local restaurant, then proceed to visit one of the seven wonder of the
ancient world (the Giza Pyramids) and the sphinx.
Drive to your hotel in Cairo, check in hotel, dinner and overnight in hotel in Cairo.

Day 07: Cairo – The Egyptian Museum / The Citadel and Khan IL Khalili Bazaar

Breakfast, and then meet your Egyptologist tour guide to start touring Cairo visiting:
The famous Egyptian Museum of antiquities and treasures of king Tut, stop for lunch in local
restaurant, then drive to visit the Citadel of Saladin, where you visit the Alabaster Mosque of
Mohamed Ali, then transfer to the most famous Medieval Market (The Khan IL Khalili
Bazaar), back to hotel, dinner and overnight in hotel in Cairo.

Day 08:

Breakfast, then transfer to Cairo airport to fly back home.
